Episode 58 – So Long and Thanks for All the Shoes

Well folks this is it, this is the last episode of Age of Runark.

It has been a fun ride and I hope that you enjoyed it along with us.

I was hoping that we we would be able to finish out the arc but alas scheduling got in the way.

I am planning on starting another actual play in the future but that is probably a couple months out.  Follow our Twitter and Facebook page to see updates on new projects.

When we first started this I wasn’t sure how well it would go but as we end this I can say that it surpassed my wildest expectations.  I have made new friends and can say that folks from all over the world experienced our game.

Go out and play and have fun!!

Episode 57 – Back to Business part 4

This week we take some time to explore what how the group is adjusting to their new lives/roles in the world.  Before long the group comes across the home of the Occulta, a floating cemetery in a sea of lava.  The only entrance seems to be a stone bridge with no sides.  What could go wrong?

We didn’t make any new musical references this week.

Episode 56 – Back to Business part 3

This week the group continues their journey to the giants and find a city surrounded by a great bone wall.  Once inside the walls the group soon realizes that all the giant men are wearing makeup and have permed hair.  The group learns this is in tribute to the great Queen Cottrell who united the tribes long ago.

After some negotiations the group finds out that the giants are at war with a sinister group of necromancers called The Occulta.  The group agrees to get rid of The Occulta in order to secure an alliance with the giants, but quickly plan ulterior motives.

NEW SEASON! NEW ADVENTURE! NEW SYSTEM!

This image is what spawned this season.

runark01

As we sat down to discuss our new season and system change I pitched the group an idea that I had wanted to run for awhile but could never find a system that would allow it.  Once it became clear that we were going the route of Open Legend I began to flesh more and more out and realized that I could indeed tell the tale.  What is that tale you ask?

An epic fun filled quest to take back what was once the players.  A game filled with fun and nods to our influences outside of the game.  I started early on in the first season naming every episode after a song of a band that we liked (or that I liked).  This started to naturally evolve into this season of actual making references or naming things after bands.

So we have a new system, we have a new logo and we have a new attitude.  The goal with season 2 is have shorter episodes and to have them pack a punch.  I felt that some episodes in season 1 weren’t the best to listen to but it reflected what an campaign is like, not all session will be winners.  I am forcing myself to change that this season and going forward.  I feel that Open Legend will allows us to push ourselves further than any other system.

There will be some changes from here on out.  Every episode is going to be posted on here weekly.  I will post in every episode any referenced to bands that we mention on the episode in case you want to explore what a majority of us listen to on the podcast.  There will be references you may not get, but we will have a link to let you in on the fun.

Have any suggestions on references or names for NPCs? let us know! comment here, our our Facebook or Twitter and get engaged!  We look forward to this season and we hope that you will enjoy the ride.

Episode 37 – Nobody Speak

Episode 37

Orlock and Neville stand outside of the Coulson’s manor, flanked by several members of Shadow’s Thunder.  Only two guards (if you would call them that) stand by the main gate.  If their friends are trapped inside this place looks like the last you would check.  There is nothing to give any inkling of trouble.  Orlock and Zane (Shadow;s Thunder that followed) set to sneaking up on the two guards who are posted out front.  When Zane gets spotted Orlock jumps into action and delivers a viscous series of blows that incapacitates them. The group proceeds inside the manor making sure to stick to the shadows.  They are able to smooth  talk a young boy who ends up biting more off than he chooses.  Using a set of the keys the group took from the guards they enter into the home and begin their search.

They find a single drop of blood and a secret door that leads them down into unknown danger and unforeseen horrors.

Episode 36 – Dark Horse

Episode 36

I want to take a moment and say that I am sorry about not posting episode 35 last week.  I had a big project at work that I needed to make sure when without a hitch (it did!) but in the hustle and bustle of that I didn’t get to post about the episode.

The group finds themselves in a dire situation.  Graf and Davito are unconscious and under arrest.  Neville watches helplessly as they are loaded onto a cart.  At the same time Orlock find a mirror in a hidden chamber of the house that doesn’t reflect the room that it is in.  Returning to Neville, Orlock soon learns the fate of his friends.  Graf and Davito soon come face to face a familiar voice, while Orlock and Neville plan another heist.

Episode 34 – Mouth For War

Episode 34

Pure chaos envelopes the group as the fighters exact their revenge on those who held them there.  As Graf leads the group upstairs they see full blown what the release of pent up rage looks like.  The floor is a sticky red as Bruck’s men are overwhelmed and beaten into pulps.

The group spots a familiar friend, a orc missing a good chunk of his face, and rush into action.  Graf forms his gauntlets into stone and shatters the door leading the group to face Bruck, who has an ace in his sleeve, or should I say at knife point.
